Active Student Learning through Gamification in a Learning Management System

E-learning through a learning management system (LMS) is expected to be solution the needs of distance learning, especially during pandemic situation. However, an LMS can lead lack focus, reduced classroom efficiency, and feeling boredom for user. One this problem use gamification (e.g., rankings or points, badges, leaderboards) enhance active learning. This study uses mixed-methods approach data from weekly reviews forum discussions, questionnaires, students’ interviews assess implementation elements in LMS. The questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistics, student general inductive analysis. results show that had positive influence on students have also provided feedback rated review activity. badges leaderboard positively accepted by most students. Awarding points activities was found improve performance class. Badges increase participation, motivated participate actively online classes. could provide guidance universities providers wishing implement
